Hello!

AhmadJooma.com has been a long time coming and I’m finally here. A place to document my expertise and experiences as I continue to: think, learn and take ‘unreasonable’ actions to grow in my business and success.

And already I have a valuable lesson to take away from creating this website – a lesson in one of the most important underlying aspects of success: taking action.

Those who know me well already know that the thinking and learning bit I’m pretty good at.

Taking action, however, is an art I continue to learn and re-learn over and over in my personal journey of being a master of design and creation of my life.

You see, I am a perfectionist at heart, which, is no doubt born from a fear of messing things up – but sadly my perfectionism delays results. Like, for example, the launch of this website.

So what delayed me? It’s embarrassing but I deliberated immensely over one tiny detail: What picture should I use as my main image?

Seriously.

I spent a long time delaying over what image to use. I had a whole bunch of pictures taken as I wanted to do this properly. But none of them were quite right. Then I picked one which seemed suitable – this one:

However some people told me I looked too serious (no smile). One person even said I looked like a psycho. I was going to use this image anyway because I think I look cool and I can see a smile in there. Sort of.

In the end after more perfectionist ‘lets get this right’ thinking and delaying I picked a completely different picture (one with a smile) and got on with creating the website.

Overall, the key principle here for me and any one else who finds themselves at the mercy of PERFECTIONISM is to:

• take an action
• be willing to make a mistake and
• create an opportunity to learn from

And that’s exactly what I did to write this introduction in record time! Less ‘thinky’ more ‘do-y’.
